Steel questions
What’s the difference between cold-rolled, P&O, and mill-finish steel?
A1008 cold-rolled has a smooth surface and is used for panels and enclosures. A36 / A1011 P&O is hot-rolled stock with mill scale removed and an oiled surface. A36 / A1011 mill finish retains the mill scale. Compare each material’s thicknesses, properties, and surface preparation needs.
Which zinc-coated steel options are available?
The catalog includes A1008 electro-galvanized and G90 hot-dip galvanized. Each material page lists its coating, thickness options, and fabrication data.
Where can I find specialty steel?
Explore Corten weathering steel for architectural applications, AR500 for abrasion-resistant flat parts, and 1075 / 1095 spring steel for thin spring and shim stock. For higher-strength structural plate, see A572 / HSLAS Grade 50.
Where can I check a thickness or bend requirement?
Open the individual material and select your thickness to see its fabrication data. AR500, Grade 50, and spring steel have different processing limits from mild steel; review the selected material’s specifications. You can also browse the complete sheet metal catalog.
