John shoots commercials, and wanted a camera arm his own crew could bolt to a chase car rather than renting one. He designed and built it; we cut the structure — linkage plates, isolator head and mounts — from 3/16″ steel.

The challenge.
Hole position is what matters on a linkage. Every pivot across the paired plates has to line up for the arm to stay square through its travel, so the plates were cut as matched sets rather than one at a time.
The result.
John welded, assembled and finished the rig himself, adding the air shock, the hydraulic dampers and the wire-rope isolators. It now runs on a chase car for commercial shoots.
